Vibration is an oscillation. During mechanical oscillation a body or structure moves around the state of equilibrium. The moving mass owns mechanical energy.
The vibration technique needs so-called oscillation exciters as drives. Vibrators excite the mass to be moved by mostly periodical force and effect an oscillation with fixed frequency and amplitude.
During excitation by the out-of-balance force the excited mass describes a circular or elliptic path. During excitation by a linear vibrator a forward-and-backward movement of the excited mass takes place.
